"...decide that in this very moment we will be contented, no matter what storms are threatening. The fact is, there are always storms. If we wait for things to become as we demand them to be in order to be contented, we will always be waiting."
-Jane Goad Trechsel, from A Morning Cup of Yoga
Have you ever read something and just gotten chills? Or just a strong sense that something was absolutely, one-hundred percent true? I haven't experienced that in a while, and this passage did it. It made me realize how much time I spend thinking "if we could just get to x, we'd be happy." Or "we just need to win the lottery so we can do x." Rarely do I think about how nice it is to have a roof, a job, and some of the comforts I take for granted.
What are you waiting for right now? What thing is standing in your way at this moment? What's wrong with this moment, where you are, that keeps you from being contented?
Why do you need it to be happy?
