Work has been both interesting and frustrating to the extreme lately. Pack this, unpack that, move this, install that, etc. Massive network outages, new furniture, botched floorplans, unannounced VPN configuration changes, new dual monitors, blah blah blah. A roller coaster of activity and moods. And through it all, my herniated disc has been not-so-gently reminding me that I can't do half those things I was ... doing... anyway. I'm a little tired.
Rob is still without a job, which stresses me more each week. He has a few leads, but nothing solid yet. Nothing from the placement agency at all. I might have a promotion/raise coming when the Campus Center is completed, but that's no sooner than next year. If it happens though, it will be a great resume builder. Right now I supervise the help desk for our building, this position would put me in charge of support for the new building as well. Cross your fingers.
I'm back in chorus and singing again, which makes me very happy. They made me a second tenor. This makes me less happy, mainly because I have to re-learn a bunch of music I'd otherwise already know. We have a concert this weekend at the Penrod Arts Festival, I was invited to sing as part of an ensemble in Cincinnatti in October, and the Christmas concert is in December, so there's a TON of music to be working on right now. I've filled up my MP3 player with nothing but rehearsal tapes and it's all I'm listening to at the moment.
I finished the first book in the Belgariad series called Pawn of Prophecy over Labor Day weekend at Steve and Joe's in Michigan. Good book, if frustrating. The main character is still a kid and his domineering guardian made me want to reach out and bitch-slap someone more than once. The last three pages made certain allusions that will keep me reading though, I think. We also went to a Ren' fair over the weekend and I had a blast. I VASTLY overpaid for a shirt, but I got a very nice walking stick for a song so it works out. I thought she said $16, but when I went to pay she said "That will be $72.08." *choke* I paid it anyway though, because this was her livelihood and she reminded me of my sister, Sandy. I also got to shoot a bow and arrow again, which renewed my 'someday' interest in archery. Maybe next summer I'll take lessons or something.
Speaking of lessons, I signed up for Yoga this semester as part of HR's Work/Life series. It was only $57 for the whole semester and meets twice a week for about 16 weeks (give or take a few for holidays). It's nice and relaxing, but she went VERY fast for my taste as a beginner. It's been going on for a couple of semesters though, and I'm just now getting with the program, so I'll adjust.
I think that's it for the moment. Lots going on though, so I reserve the right to add more later. *hugs*
